Who we are
Golf Buddies ("we", "the app") is a golf games and scorecard app operated by Cooppetition. Contact us any time at info@cooppetition.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account data — if you create an account: your email address, a display name, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Round data — scorecards you save to your account: round names, player names you enter, teams, pars, and scores.
- Guest data — if you don't sign in, your current scorecard is stored only in your device's local storage and is never sent to us.
- Subscription data — if you subscribe to Golf Buddies Pro: your plan (monthly or yearly), its status and renewal date, and the reference numbers our payment provider gives us. Card details are entered directly into Helcim's secure form (web) or handled by Apple or Google (apps); we never see or store your card number.
- Advertising & analytics — aggregate ad counts (impressions and clicks on in-app sponsor cards). If programmatic ads are enabled and you accept cookies, Google AdSense may set cookies as described below. The free iPhone and Android apps show a banner from Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising identifier as described below.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, or photos, and we do not use device identifiers to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use it
- To provide the app: sign-in, saving and syncing your rounds across devices, and emailing round results when you ask us to.
- To process Pro subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and refunds, and to unlock Pro on every device you sign in to.
- To keep the service secure and working (e.g. authentication).
- To measure and display advertising performance to sponsors in aggregate.
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run the app:
- Vercel — hosting.
- Neon / Postgres — database storage for accounts and saved rounds.
- Supabase — sign-in and storage for accounts and subscription status.
- Resend — sending result emails you request.
- Helcim — card payments for Pro subscriptions bought on our website.
- Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) — payments for Pro subscriptions bought in the iPhone and Android apps. Their own privacy policies apply to those purchases.
- Google AdSense — programmatic advertising on the web (only when enabled and you have accepted cookies).
- Google AdMob — the banner ad in the free iPhone and Android apps. Ads are requested as non-personalized; AdMob still receives your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and ad interactions to deliver ads, measure them, and prevent fraud. Pro members see no ads. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in (a secure, HttpOnly session cookie). Advertising cookies from Google AdSense are only loaded after you tap Accept on the in-app consent banner; you can decline and the app still works with first-party sponsor cards only.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account and saved rounds until you delete them. You can permanently delete your account and all associated rounds at any time:
- In the app: tap your account menu (top right) → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your account and all saved rounds, and stops any Pro subscription you bought on our website. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play must be cancelled in your Apple or Google account settings, because only Apple or Google can stop those charges.
- By email: write to info@cooppetition.com and we will delete your data within 30 days.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions use signed, HttpOnly cookies.
Children
Golf Buddies is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact info@cooppetition.com to exercise these rights.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
